ALASKA

On June 15 we left home for a grand adventure - driving the motorhome from Sammamish to Alaska. Moshi and Kibo are so excited to be on the road again! And to see bears, which we did starting on our third day out, between Quesnel and Barkerville. What a handsome guy!

The first 1400 miles or so of our trip are in British Columbia - who knew it was so big?? And beautiful, as you will see.

At Williams Lake we went for a hike along the Williams River, where the signs promised bears but we didn't see any . . .

Bob, Penny and Mark hiking near the Williams River.

At Quesnel we decided to stay the night in the parking lot of Billy Barker's Casino, against my better judgement! We ended up right next to the Salvation Army, by the dumpsters! And the garbage truck came at 6:30 in the morning . . . .

Next we visited the gold rush town of Barkerville, where they've faithfully re-created the atmosphere of the mid 1800's on the frontier, complete with stagecoach rides.

Bob and Mark may have started a new career on stage with the Barkerville show! Penny and I laughed until we cried . . .

We alternate leaders, and on the day Bob and I aren't leading this is often my view . . .

And this . . . .

This little guy was busily browsing for food along the highway, and didn't seem to mind us stopping to take his picture . . .

We rented a car and drove down to Tumbler's Ridge from Dawson Creek. The scenery was gorgeous - rivers and mountains and forests, and sunshine!

From Tumbler's Ridge we drove 37 miles on a gravel road to Monkman Provincial Park and Kinuseo Falls - as high as Niagara!

Wild flowers are in full bloom, especially the wild roses .. . . .
