Our first stop on our 2008 winter saga was Borrego Springs, California, about an hour and a half south of Palm Desert - a beautiful and cosmic place! Sixty miles from the nearest stop light, Borrego Springs is peaceful and quiet in a spectacular desert setting at the base of the mountains. Jerry and Ernarae Bisset told us about this Shangri La, for which all four of us are eternally grateful. The only problem is that there's so much to do it's easy to get way too busy . . . There are two golf courses right in the Park, great hiking within a couple of miles, traffic-free country roads for biking, and the town of Borrego Springs featuring art galleries, boutiques and restaurants. Everyone at the Park is very friendly, and we met some great new people. Our social life got very active, as we golfed, hiked, drank and ate much and often with our new friends! We moved on to Phoenix, but will return to this fabulous spot.
